India's Double Standards...

India warns US on arms sales to Pakistan

India could buy whatever air crafts or amunition from anyone, But if Pakistan purchases such stuff in defence, It is a provocation of arms race in South Asia!

Acting upon such duoble standards, India can never fullfill its dream of becomming a regional "Dada".

  • Pakistan is a silly kashmir minded country with all muslim & Chinese neighbours but for India, still want to buy so much arms and build missiles, with only aim to daunt india in negotiating table.

  • Only If India sincerely sits on the negotiation table!

India continues with the violence & state terrorism in Kashmir having no sympathy for innocent lives or UN resolutions.

  • Whether you accept it or not, India is the 'Dada' in South Asia (which is not really a good thing)

As of buying weapons, India spends 2.5% of its GDP on military.. China spends abt 6% and pakistan 5.5%..

I guess, this makes the picture clearer..

as of the double standards, i can't think of anything that would top Prez Musharaff's "we are against terrorism" statements.

but I also agree with u that India & Pak should sit down with an open mind and try to put to rest the whole issue with kashmir.

  • On the same topic someone mentioned me India wants to be a "Global Economic Dada" :) . well if it is this kind of "Dada" then I think we should all support it. We think that if our neigthbour is prosperous, we would be prosperous too.

buying weapons.... Well it is obvious that Pakistan had to remain neck to neck with India, otherwise the way India threatened in the past, the map of South Asia would have been different.

As far as General Musharraf is concerned, World knows about the efforts of Musharruf & Pakistan in curbing with terrorism. And it is Musharaff who right from the begining has been sending messages of freindship towards India. And it is Musharaff's initiative that finally India is reponding and we are on the table.

Well.... whatever our bad bloods are.. We must have to realize that this is the time for us to resolve our issues and start heading in the direction of prosperity, peace and stability, thus creating a region where everyone is eating three times are day, where children are going to school instead of garages and where no one dies becuase of the dirth of medical facilities.

    God help us all.

  • oh yea..
India wants to be a "Global Economic Dada" big time! And I think that will be very good for the region.. (S.Asia).

As of the weapons race.. I personally think that each country shud have whatever weapons it deems necessary, as long as it promises that it is not going to go around scaring others and promises a no-first use-principle. (India included). As of the way "India threatened in the past" goes, I don't think it is pakistan's military power that India is scared of, I think India understands that it is more of a lose-lose situation "invading" other counrty. And for that reason, it is safe to assume that India is not going to attack any other country...

And as of Musharraf ji is concerned, he may be the best bet the west and the india have regarding "jihad" and peace in kashmir. Having said that, there is a small bit of concern I have in fully embracing the General bcoz of the whole Kargil thing. But I must give it to him (and vajpayee to an extent)for initiating the peace movement. Another thing which in general that i am worried about is the lack of public outcry against terrorism and the strong support for the religious fundamentalism among the general public that is prevalent in Pak. (Maybe I am wrong, but it looks like that from outside)

But, all said and done, I couldnot agree more abt your last statement.. we owe peace to the people of kashmir, it is time we put our pasts behind us and try to look ahead.. if Germany and France can be pals, then hell yes!!, we too can do it..
